I was watching the Beijing Olympics 2008 - Opening Ceremony and I must say, I was kind of impressed.

The Chinese actually bothered to put some thoughts into creating their own unique performances for the event. There were really several interesting segments of the show which caught my attention. The location for the gigantic Olympic flame torch, which is supposed to be kept burning throughout the Games, is one good example of an out of the box thinking.

However, being the downright filthy mainland Chinese that they are, we cannot be 100% sure that they did not plagiarise. For one, the Chinese espionage services might have spied and stolen these ideas before the original creator can exhibit them. This might sound like a ridiculous possibility but we are talking about the inhabitants of the Middle Kingdom here where everything goes.

All in all, the Opening Ceremony was a good show, assuming that all the performance were actually truly crafted by the Chinese mind. But that does not mean they have won me over. At the end of the day, I still want to annihilate that country.

PS: If any of you out there thinks that our NDP fireworks were jubilantly exhilarating, please think again. Compared to those in the Opening Ceremony, our fireworks are nothing more than just some sparks and a few puffs of smoke.
