Today marks the cessation of my mid-tertiary education in Catholic Junior College.
How time flies. I can still remember the 3rd of January 2005.
On that morning, I arrived at the gates of CJC, feeling nervous and shy - I can't remember the last time being surrounded by many many girls(primary school girls doesnt count). We were ushered into the school hall by our JC2 facilitators. They are a bunch of warm-hearted peeps. Inside the air-conditioned hall, I saw the man who would be my principal for the next two years - Brother Paul Rogers. He started his introductory speech with a short reflection on the tsunami that occured in Indonesia then and then gradually, we advanced into the initial stages of our orientation....
Boy. It feels as if that just happened yesterday. Time really flies. Before I knew it, my two years in Cheng Jin's College.... CJC I mean, has come to an end. It has been a memorable chapter of my life because of people like Elleen and Julian but at the same time, it is also a traumatizing one because of people like Ted. I shall mention more about them later.
The bottom line is, I enjoyed my two years tenure in the college. I enjoyed my friends.(sounds wrong but you get the point ya). I enjoyed my teachers. I enjoyed the CJ experience. Period. Anything more I said would be standard responses like "My friends were with me.." or "The people are all very friendly.." etc etc etc. So I shall skip that.
The one person that I would commend most is my beloved home tutor, Mr. Alvin Low Juay Kiang. I swear that he is the best teacher I have had in my 12 yrs of education.
Merits of Mr. Low:
- Never fails to make sure that we understand all our lectures and tutorials.
- Never fails to give us adequate homeworks.
- Never fails to mark our homework meticulously and sincerly.(All the remarks he made for us and all the proper answers he gave us when he returned our tutorials)
- Did his utmost, and more than he should, in helping us through our Project Work. I seriously believe that his the teacher that did most for his class for PW. Remember all the skit rehearsals, dry runs, class presentations? Sorry Mr Low for making you read through my 8 drafts of PI ^^
- Is always willing to help his students... even when they ask for help at inappropriate times of the day(like 1am in the morning)
- Always tried his best to make SD-Civics-NE lessons interesting for us despite our cannot-be-bothered attitude. Seriously, he could have just breeze through whatever he was REQUIRED to teach us and then slack for the rest of the lesson but he didn't. A sense of urgency, we receive only 86400 seconds a day are some of the stuff that I learnt from him during those lessons.
- He cares an awful lot for his students. Just think about the dressing down he gave us after we screwed one of our SPAs. Can anybody actually remember it? He was saying "Its like you know your friend is in danger but you are not allowed to help him." So why don't he just give us the answers in the first place. That way, everyone will be happy.
- Overwhelmingly generous, has a big heart and is a fantastic motivator. Too bad none of us fulfilled the Prelims Pact we made with him. Well, I am just 4 marks away from fulfilling that pact.
- Fiendishly intelligent. I think he got 4 As for his subjects, Merit for his 2 S papers and an A for GP for his 'A' levels. In case you are wondering, Mr. Low hails from Hwa Chong Junior College.
- His a metrosexual. Haha *evil grins*
Well I could go on and on. Just know that the above-mentioned list of merits is inexhaustive. Yeah, Mr. Low is seriously that damn good. Given his caliber, he ought to be the subject head. Must be the Mr. Wee refuse to give place. Then again, Mr Low would be going to HCJC to teach next year. I wish you all the best in your future endeavors!!!
Thanks a million Mr. Alvin Low Juay Kiang for all the efforts you spent on me and the class.
For being such a nice person, I am sure Santa Claus will send you a present this coming Christmas.
Now I shall say something about my fellow classmates.
Elleen Yang: You have been a very nice Discipline Councellor. Thanks for being so tolerant with my retarded antics. I will never forget the times when I poked your bread into oblivion and your expression when you saw your pockmarked bread. Please note that its somewhat impossible for a person to control his fart. So please don't blame me when I happen to fart next to you. It was sheer conincidence. Nice to sit next to you. Lastly, I sincerly apologize for all the mean and insensitive things I said to you and did to you during the past two years.
Novi: Noviiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii. Don't look so stressed all the time. Sometimes its better to take things in its stride. Think too much also no use ok. You have been a very good Chem Rep. Hope your phone will recover soon. Lets meet and go watch Pokemon the Movie 2007 next year. Nah just kidding haha. Come online more frequently ok.
Rizka: As the HTC for our class, I think you have done a so-so job haha. Nonetheless, you're still a great HTC. Good to have your company during Bintan and Mawai. Look forward to your tempehs. Lets meet and eat Carl's Jr. sometime in the future.
Florence: Paris Hilton of 2T15? Nah haha. Dunno what to say also because I seldom interact with you... Oh. You have been a very nice Physics rep. And its not a very nice thing to indulge in making fun of Elleen and me.
Bancha: Yo Boss haha... was good to have your company during the first three months. Take care.
Julian: Mr. Baey Yong Jun! Work harder for GP. Your hair will always be very nice so try not to ask me anymore. Do inform me next time when you discovered the secrets of Area 51 and the Bermuda Triangle. Find one day go your house swim... Elleen also going right?
Ted: You bloody Sick - Smiley Groper. Do you know that you're the first person to touch my virgin chest. Idiot... And you gave me a scar on my chin too. I will be reminded of you whenever I see that scar for the rest of my life ahhhhhhhhhhh. Why you? If only its siren... Anyways, thanks for taking all my cold jokes during class, breaks everywhere. Thanks for all the interesting stuffs you shared with me and the coffee-spilling lesson you taught me last year. Nice neighbour to sit with. Please understand that I am straight. Work hard and enter NUS so you can have all the eye candies you want. *Prays hard that all chio bus will enrol in NTU mwahahahaha*
Ben: Doctor Loh. You are a somewhat intersting entity haha... Nah, nice to have you around. Like Novi, you tend to look quite stressed sometimes. Let nature take its course ok! Must recommend me some aphrodisiac one of these days. Still remember the Bintan bet which you lost? When are you gonna run around half-naked?
Kenneth: You is the master criticizer in the class. Sometimes I find it very hard to communicate with you. Please try not to respond with "Why cannot?" all the time... you won't get a girlfriend that way. Work hard for your accountant dream.
Lunyan: How was tea with Premier Wen Jiabao yesterday haha... Thansk for all the help you gave me for my F maths and chinese hehe. Don't be so slack. Start studying ok. Nice to have another Marist in class. Lets play Rise of Nations soon.
Alphonsus: Everybody, Alphonsus here is a commando in the making. Soon, he will be entering the commando camp for his NS. So don't mess with him when you see him next time. For all you know he will use his tactical skills to overwhelm you haha. One thing I like about you is your directness and frankness - you don't go one big round just to suan somebody and you dare to comment on other people's works (like my NYAA report) truthfully and in front of them. Thanks for all the editing you've done for me. Thanks for all the funny magic cards you shared with me. Please don't treasure your cards like they are your wife. They are just a few pieces of lifeless tree fibers.
Cho Yau: Still remember seeing you sending a girl off in a taxi last year haha. Still dunno why you chose to sit with T19... haiz. Nevermind haha. Summary king, work harder for GP ya.
Gerard: Happy birthday. Now I will remember when your bdae is haha. You're a pretty nice and interesting guy. Your blu-tak corner exhibit are fun to look at. Take care!
Alvin: Alvin ah.... dunno what to say... I like your drawings. And your wavy stomach. Take care. How do you do the finger grabbing trick so that you can trap your friend's hand and then proceed to squeeze his nipples?
Chia Seng: Stop being so blur haha. Its been nice to hang around with you. Wish you and cindy all the best hehe. Must celibate though. Don't try anything funny ok. Work hard for GP, otherwise your 3 As wasted.
Ming Hong: Yo slut! You have been a very good sports buddy siaz haha... please note that I dint pang seh you ok. Its just that either I am not aware that you will be runing or I got something on. Lets see... Rion here is a very romantic guy, he plays the violin, the piano and can dance as well. Plus he do alot of sports, is tanned and most importantly, he has a very defined bod with six pacs and all which he likes to show off. His into classical music that sounds like dying songs to me haha(no offense tho). SO girls, if your looking for a man, give him a chance. Apparently his available again heheehehehehe. Hmm now that I think of it, its quite surprising that I get to be acquainted with you. I mean its like we barely talk to each other during J1 and its only in mid J2 that we started to know each other... If memory serves me correctly, I think it was during a physics lecture and you told me about the wedding ring finger thingy haha... Anyways, that was a fun thing to know. Lest go for late night movies again.
Anthony: I like your shirt during our dinner last night. Still remember the way I played bridge with you during Bintan haha... Take care.
Marc: The Einstein of our class. Very determined as well. Takes two S paper and 4 subs. Good luck with your scholarships and A levels ok!

Phew finally... now that when I think about my past two years, its really very nice to know that there are actually some interesting things that happened to me. Things that will go forgotten if not for this blog haha... WEll, I am in a somewhat semi-emotional mood now upon reflecting about my college life. I really dislike coming to the end of something. Then again, nothing gold stays forever. Its imperative for us to move on to find new friends while at the same time, keeping old ones in our hearts.
Enough is said for today. I am sorry if I bored you to death with my ramblings.
